Justice Umar Sadiq Sworn In As Jigawa State Chief Judge

The Acting Governor of Jigawa State Malam Umar Namadi fca, has today 24th May, 2021 swears in Honourable Justice Umar M. Sadiq as the substantive Chief Judge of Jigawa State.

This came following the recommendation by National Judicial Council and acceptance of tyhe recommendation by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Jigawa State Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar  MON mni. The appointment was confirmed by the State House of Assembly in line with section 271(1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

Honourable Justice Umar M. Sadiq is the fourth Chief Judge of Jigawa State, who succeeds the immediate past Chief Judge, late Honourable Justice Aminu Sabo Ringim (retired), who retired on 25th November 2020. Honourable Justice Umar M. Sadiq is a graduate of law from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and was called to the Bar in 1989. He began his career as a Magistrate in the defunct Kano State, and he was appointed as Judge of the High Court of Jigawa State in the year 2000. He is married with children.

The Oath of office was administered by the state Attorney General/the Commissioner for Justice Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, in the presence of the Speaker Jigawa House of Assembly, represented by the Chairman House Committee on Justice and Judiciary Honourable Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad (Jallo), Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Fanini, Judicial Officers, lawyers, and other invited members of the public.

In his remarks the Acting Governor Malam Namadi, extolled the virtues of the Chief Judge saying that he is capable and equal to the task. He also condoles the judiciary on the death of the former Chief Judge late Honourable Justice Aminu Sabo Ringim (retired), who died recently in a car accident. He prayed for his departed soul and the fortitude of bear the loss.
