The Jos North /Bassa aspirant for the seat of the Federal House of Representatives, Pastor Michael Golu Rivi has called on Nigerian voters to shun voting for any party but to go for a person who can provide dividends of democracy and reduce their suffering.

Rivi made this known during a media interactive session with some journalists at Bishop Court on Saturday in Jos.

He disclosed that, as a missionary who has observed elections in some parts of  East Africa, especially Kenya  the voters always cast their vote for credible candidates.

Michael reiterated the need to address some of the challenges faced by the residents of Jos North and Bassa LGAs in the area of perennial water scarcity faced during the dry season, stressing that if given the mandate come 2026, he promised to find a lasting solution to the problem.

He said he threw himself into the race with a passion for the well-being of the people to ensure that education, health care delivery, and empowerment of vulnerable children, women, and the youth is achieve.

According to him, since the return of democracy in Nigeria, the people of Irigwe community are yearning for peace, and we see in   Bassa LGA, the  Rukuba, and Pengana people are enjoying a fragile peace,, so if voted come 2026, that issue of peace would be addressed.

He maintained his call for peaceful coexistence amongst the diverse ethnic groups’ residents in Jos North /Bassa Federal constituency with emphasize to stop the killings.

Rivi charged politicians to shun politics of blackmail, bitterness, and promote healthy competition instead of tribal religion interest during the electioneering campaign. We must avoid discrimination if we want our democracy to grow. As a pastor, I can go to any part of Plateau, so our democracy needs to grow.

He stressed that one party is not the solution to our democracy, and voters must avoid voting for a political party but focus more on rebuilding the infrastructure decayed through politics of principle and ideology.

Michael raised concerns over the poor management of resources by those elected officials as insecurity continued to pervade in the country.

He rejected the ideas for the emergence of candidates through consensus as twisting the hands of the people and hijacking the delegates.

Michael stated that Nigerian should adopt option A4, which is the most credible way of selecting candidates for the coming election, so that aspirants can identify with the man who stood to vote for them.

We, the political class, should know that no one else knows tomorrow. You can enjoy the system now, but next time it will work against you, so admonish voters to shun money politics and religion divides.
