Jos North/ Bassa Constituency: Chairman Of Jos North Accused Of Threatening  Executives To Support Government Candidate, Hon Abbey Aku

Crisis rocks the All Progressives Congress ,APC, in Jos North Chapter of Plateau State  Executives as the Local Government  Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Hon. Shehu Usman Bala has allegedly issued a threat to the Wards and LG Executives to support the candidature of the anointed government candidate in the forthcoming Jos North /Bassa Constituency or lose their positions in the party at the council level .

According to some of the APC Executives in an interview  alleged  that they have been  issued threat to the delegates in Ali Kazaure Ward of Jos North Local Government Area to either cast their votes for Hon. Abbey Aku in the forthcoming party primary for the Bye-Election for Jos North Bassa Federal Constituency scheduled for February 26, 2022 or loses their positions in the party .

A credible source revealed to this  medium that the meeting was held on Monday 24th January, 2022 at the Ward headquarters which incidentally, is the Chairman’s Ward warning them to overwhelmingly cast the vote to Abbey Aku as state government anointed candidate in the forthcoming primaries ahead of bye election in Jos North LGA  .

The Chairman is said to have told the EXCO members that the order was in line with Governor Lalong’s instructions following a meeting held in Abuja on January 17, 2022 on the issue warning party stalwarts to either obey or stand the chance to be boted out of the APC Exco in Jos North .

Another source also informed this medium that the Chairman has equally scheduled meetings with other EXCO members in the 13 Wards of the LGA for the purpose of delivering same purported order of the Governor Simon Lalong that the Irigwe ethnic tribe didn’t support his candidature in 2019 so he plot to create in a unconducive atmosphere for some of them vying under the platform of the APC .

Some stakeholders who spoke to our medium  on condition of anonymity expressed displeasure  over the development which they described as unhealthy taking into cognizance the challenges the party in the state is going through culminating in the decision of some members to leave the party.

Also, while some stakeholders submitted that the Council Chairman was executing the decision of the Governor and the party, others counted the party out it stressing that the party has made it public on several occasions in addition to a meeting held by the State EXCO and resolved to remain neutral and do the needful by providing a level playing ground for all the Aspirants.

However ,the party alleged that because of the favour given to the Chairman ,Hon. Shehu Usman he is dancing to the music of the Governor Simon Lalong without considering the acceptability of the candidate in Jos North ,Bassa LGas .

However ,speaking to the organizing Secretary ,Hon .Philip Adik Asanto he explained further that the APC made the position open to all the candidates whoever’s indicated interested should be allow to contest.

Adik emphasized that the APC in Plateau state chapter is opened to all the credible candidates that are willing to contest for the seat of Jos north ,Bassa constituency .

We are prepare to build the APC Exco in all the wards levels so whatever decision taken by the Chairman Hon Shehu Usman should have consulted wisely with the state chapter before taking that action of convening such stakeholders meeting .

He declined that the APC Exco in Plateau state chapter are not aware of the personal decision taken by the Chairman to cajoule them into dancing to his own ideology of imposition .

The APC in Plateau state chapter are facing indefinite rejection especially with key politicians whom the Governor Simon Lalong felt they are not in his good book of political support or support in 2015 /2019 so he embark on gorilla hatred to frustrate their ambition even though they are popular candidates to beat .

Its was also gathered that political activities have been shifted to Abuja to dictate and anoint candidate of their choice either by the SSG  or the highest bidders in Plateau politics .

However, plan to frustrate many candidates vying for the seat of Jos North, Bassa constituency ticket left the APC Exco in a serious doubt and malfunction as the APC is gradually becoming a death  trap in the wheel of progress .
