Jos 2017 Carnival Opening: Minister of Sports, Dalung Criticizes Governor Lalong For Coming Late

The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Hon Solomon Dalung yesterday at the Jos 2017 Carnival berated Governor Simeon Lalong for coming late to the occasion. The minister who arrive the take-off venue at the Miango Junction berated the governor for not keeping to time where the Mnister waited for about 3 hours before the Governor arrived.

He lamented that he canceled some important issues and attended o the Jos 2017 carnival of peace was a welcome development in the history of Plateau people.

Meanwhile, worried by the anti -media war against the members of the pen profession by Governor Simon Lalong led government, the Plateau state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) were sidelined from Jos 2017 carnival celebration.

It was gathered that the media were hand-picked by the government of Lalong to shortchange the NUJ and the private media practitioners including the correspondent chapel of the NUJ respectively.

It would be recalled Jos the Plateau state Capital on Monday witnessed a mammoth gathering of people across the state to welcome Governor Simon Lalong and Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Hon Solomon Dalung who trekked for 8 km.

Governor Simon Lalong in his speech expressed hope that the state will continue to witness prompt payment of salary of the civil servants in the state.

I will make this my topmost priority for those in government to enjoy the full dividends of democracy.

He said; “this Jos carnival mark the restoration of peaceful coexistence among the good people of Plateau state where our mutual respect for sanctity of live is now being respected again.

“He assured the residents of Plateau state of his administration readiness to build on the current existing peace which was characterized by hatred and loss of human dignity”, he added.

The minister in his comment adviced the people to shun all manner of political differences and embrace one another for the progress of the state.

Dalung disclosed that Plateau state is known as home of peace and tourism but in the past, “we witnessed challenges and crisis that destroyed our corporate existence.
