Niwesa Kushi, the first chairman of the Jimeta Ultramodern Market in Adamawa State, Nigeria, has emphasized that the market is poised to become a magnet for foreign investors, showcasing the region’s economic potentials.
He said this during an interview with the newsmen, stressing that the modern market is a testament to the state’s commitment to enhancing trade and commerce.
Niwesa Kushi, who is also the first chairman in the history of the market has said that Jimeta Ultramodern Market is a shining example of Adamawa State’s efforts to promote economic development and attract investment.
Located in the heart of Jimeta, the market boasts an impressive infrastructure, with well-designed blocks and shops selling a wide range of products, including fabrics, grains, groceries, electronics and more. The market’s layout makes it easy for shoppers to navigate, with clearly labeled blocks and shops.

Kushi noted that before now, the market’s biggest challenge was opening and closing time which made the shop owners vulnerable to thieves but, that with his appointment as the chairman, the issue of timing has been tackled with the opening time at 8am and closes at 6pm daily.
He described the market as secured and safe, stressing that it is an attractive destination for businesses and shoppers alike.
Kushi while speaking about initiatives brought to upgrade the market and make it a world standard market attracting foreign investors, stated that, his administration was able to decongest the market to the bearest minimum in order to aid free flow movement within the market, and has also constituted a market task force to be able to achieve set goals.
He also revealed that, his board are collaborating with security agencies such as Nigeria Civil Defence Corp, Federal Road Safety and the police, these agencies have routine meetings to see areas where things are not working well and work out modalities on achieving them.
“The structure of the market is that of the international world class standard but due to lack of proper management, the master plan was distorted , the clinics, fire service station design for the use of traders and shoppers have not been functional
We are taking measures and also working tirelessly to see that it becomes functional and ensure every shop gets fire extinguisher in case of fire outbreaks, all these and more are the positive changes that the market community is witnessing, said Kushi.
He added that the car parks have also been decongested and staff of the market are very much engaged in making sure that cars are safe, a place has also been designated to heavy trucks where they park to avoid congestion where truck pushers convey goods to shop owners.
