Jigawa, Zinder, Maradi To Strengthen Cooperation

Jigawa State Government, Zinder, and Maradi Regions in the Niger Republic have agreed to strengthen cooperation on Border Management.

 

Addressing a one-day interactive session between top Government officials from Zinder and Maradi and representatives of International Organization of Migration and Nigeria – Niger Joint Commission held at 3star Dutse, the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Fanini lauded the fruitful partnership between Jigawa State and the two regions of Niger Republic.

 

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Council Affairs/ Special Service, Office of the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Alhaji Ado Maigari Sadiq, the SSG said the meeting focuses on the regional border management and security challenges between the two countries.

 

He stated that the meeting will be strengthening communication, cooperation, and information management along with Nigeria- Niger borders.

 

“I have no doubt in my mind that our sustained mutual cooperation and collaboration will enable the State and the two regions to record more successes in on-going attempts to deepen cooperation in an atmosphere of peace and stability along our borders,”  the SSG said.

 

Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Fanini explained that Jigawa State will soon establish a committee aim at strengthening cooperation and collaboration on the international relationship between Jigawa State and the two Regions in the Niger Republic.

 

He expressed his optimism that the cooperation would grow stronger for the mutual benefits of both regions and their populations.

 

Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Zinder Region, Kogo Abdou said their visit to Jigawa State is to share experiences, knowledge, and ideas concerning border management between Jigawa State, Zinder and Maradi Regions.

 

He commended Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for his commitments toward maintaining peace and security in the State.

 

He expressed Zinder and Maradi appreciation of the I.O.M’s consistent and reliable support in the area of border management.

 

Other dignitaries at the interactive session included the Secretary to the Government of Zinder Region Sumana Karimin, Director of Police National, Maradi Region, Amodou Mossi, Director Police National Zinder Region Boubakar Kirgni, Director Commerce Maradi Region, Mrs. Aissatu Isaq, and Director Commerce Zinder Region, Abdou Gado.

 

Others are representative of Nigeria- Niger Joint Commission (NNJC) Malam Rabi’u Abubakar, representative of International Organization of Migration (I.O.M) Chaibou Oumarou, and representative of His Royal Highness the Emir of Damagaran, Alhaji Ibrahim Sanusi.

 

Discussions during the session centered on how to effectively implement last year’s meeting resolutions which, if implemented may create more opportunities in socioeconomics, relationship, commercial activities and strengthen communications, cooperation, and information management along the borders.
