Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency To Fumigate Three Local Governments Against Cholera And Spread Of Mosquitoes

Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency, JISEPA, has commenced a six-day spray against Mosquitoes in three local government Areas of the state.

 

The Acting Managing Director of the agency, Alhaji Suleiman M. Abbas made this known while launching the exercise in Hadejia town.

 

He said among listed local Government include  Hadejia, Ringim, and Babura as the benefiting local government areas, adding that the aim of the exercise is to curtail the menace of malaria in the state and also to control the spread of cholera outbreak

 

Also in his speech, the representative of the Director, Environmental Health, Alhaji Adamu Sabo, said the agency had organized a one day workshop for staff of Hadejia and Ringim zones on the importance of keeping the environment clean to avert the spread of malaria, cholera among others

 

He urged people to engage in environmental sanitation and personal hygiene to protect themselves from communicable diseases.

 

Alhaji Suleiman Abbas also called on residents in the 27 local government areas to cooperate with the staff of the agency to ensure the clearing of drainages and culverts and its success.

 

The Director commended traditional and religious leaders for their efforts towards enlightening their subjects on the importance of keeping the environment clean and tidy.
