Jigawa Govt To Pay People With Disability N7000 Monthly As Stipends, Screens 33,869 People With Disability

Jigawa state government has screened 33,869 people with disability across the 27 local government areas which include the blind, lepers, deaf and cripples all in an effort to assist the disable with monthly stipend as the present administration promised to assist the disable during the period of campaign in 2015.

This was disclosed by the executive secretary of the Jigawa state rehabilitation board Alhaji Ibrahim Raba kaya in an exclusive interview in his office confirming that 9 local government areas were identified with highest number of disabled according to the recent survey conducted by the Jigawa state government where each of the nine local governments has 1500 people with disability.

According to the survey conducted by our reporter in Dutse find out that Babura Dutse, Gwaram ,Jahun, Kiri kasamma, Ringim and Taura are the highest local government that has the higher number of disabled people in the state with 1500 each.

According to the secretary he said 2090 disabled persons are fully registered with them in which every month the state government spends the sum of N14, 630,000 for their allowances as he added that each person receives the sum of seven thousand as it has been stipulated by the state government.

Explaining further he said that the Jigawa state government pays 40% of the total money while local governments contribute 60% of the total money spent for disabled person every month while NUT jigawa state chapter voluntarily took responsible to assist 30 disables selected from the 27 local government and three senatorial districts

Adding further he said that all permanent secretaries in the state also donated the sum of N7000 naira out of their monthly salary to take the responsibility of one person in their area as part of their contribution to people with disability.

He called on the wealthy individuals in the society to emulate the habit of assisting the people with disability so that the issue of begging in our street will be addressed once and for all assuring that if all hand will be put on desk the issue of begging will be history in the society
