Jigawa State Government has decried on the massive destruction of the newly constructed roads by heavy trucks plying the state owner roads as a result of the closure of federal road along with Kari to Kano as a result bridge clops of Tsamiyar Tarnaga in Birnin Kudu local government in which the road was off used for the past two months and yet there was no any sign of action by the federal government
The state commissioner of works and transport, Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel lamented this to newsmen in Dutse.
He explained that a lot of damage was caused by the heavy-duty machines and vehicles which are over the capacity of their newly constructed road in the state.
Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel pointed out that, since the closure of the bridge they notice that vehicles from Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi, Borno, and Yobe states going to Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara states diverted through Jigawa state plying over Jigawa state-owned roads.
He said the state government had constructed the roads at the state level quality for simple and low heavy loads mostly for agricultural and farm produce to be transported to homes and markets but with the happening of such incidence some of the roads are seriously damaged
The Commissioner noted that all vehicles from northwest to northeast as well as neighboring countries such as Cameroon and Chad are using Jigawa state constructed roads instated of federal roads as is the only alternative route for them
He, therefore, called on the federal government as a matter of urgency to repair the bridge and open the Kano-Kar roads so as to save the Jigawa state government’s roads without further delay.
Gumel also appealed to the federal government to look at the possibility of paying compensation to all the damaged roads.
