Heavy Down Pour Renders Hundreds Of Families In Jigawa Homeless

A heavy downpour in Jigawa has destroyed over 50 houses in Mai Rakumi Village of Malam Madori Local government area.

 

Many families have been rendered homeless as they have been forced many to take shelter at primary schools and other public buildings.

The rain also caused serious flooding at Chacchanda Village in Malam Madori as many houses in the Community were submerged.

Also, the Gwaram Basirka road is now also submerged by the heavy rainfall which led to the collapse of the linking bridge.

 

Meanwhile, the Jigawa State Government has promised to rehabilitate Gwaram-Basirka.

 

The state Commissioner of works and transport, Engineer Aminu Usaman Gumel made this known when he visited the road to access the damage caused by the flood.

 

Engineer Aminu Usman who sympathized with the people of the area, also visited the site damaged by the flood at Bagadaza village along the road.

 

Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel was accompanied to the visit by Director civil Engineers of the ministry, Engineer Sagir Ya’u Ilallah, Director Engineering JIRMA, Engineer Yusuf Abdullahi, Engineer Khalil Abdullahi, and Engineer Sirajo Yahaya Muhammad also inspected collapsed culverts along Kila-Budinga road.
