Insurgency: Over 3000 Nigerian Refugees Traumatized In Cameroon

refugees-e1411492578390No fewer than 3,000 Nigerian Refugees currently in Republic of Cameroon willing to return to Nigeria but fear of the uncertainties had prevented them from returning to their places of abode.

The Representative for West Africa, United Nation High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), Liz Ahua revealed this while speaking to newsmen in Bauchi.

She added that  over five million persons were being traumatized in the North East Region due to the activities of insurgency.

She said that the Commission was so concern over the traumatized state of both the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and refugees in the neighbouring countries.

She pointed out that UNHCR was finding it difficult in handling such cases as it was difficult to treat such persons.

adding that that UNHCR had started working in Nigeria in humanitarian facets since 1963, therefore, would not afford to joke while handing such issues.

The UNHCR representative assured that she would ensure that both IDPs and refugees were given adequate attention especially in term of food and shelters.
