Not fewer than two weeks after the Director of Accounts at the Imo Internal Revenue Services, IIRS,  Mr. Jude Ogwunga, was arrested for alleged fraudulent practices, the Chairman of the Board, Chief Emeka Udegbulam, has now also been sacked by the Imo State Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodinma.

The sacked Udegbulam was indicted for alleged sharp practices and complicit inactions when he was in the office, whereas the Director of Accounts, Mr. Ogwunga, in his ugly bids overreached his powers through an administrative high-handedness.

While the sacked chairman stayed aloof, embattled Account Director, Ogwunga was hiring and threatening to fire workers with or without the waiver.

Meanwhile, a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Sir. Cosmos Iwu, it reads: That the government of Imo State has officially sacked Udegbulam from his position as the Chairman of IIRS and with immediate effect approved that appointment of Hon.Dr.Ifeanyi Chukwuemeka Okeke, as the Interim Management Committee, IMC/ Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the Imo State Internal Revenue Services, IIRS.

Unconfirmed news had it that Udegbulam and five other staffers of the IIRS were arrested by the police during the week over the misuse of public funds.

It could be recalled that the sacked Udegbulam served as the IIRS Chairman for eight (8) months, where he allegedly enriched himself with the funds made for the public.

However, an online platform known as 774ngr in their post days ago, stated clearer that Governor Uzodinma sacked Chief Udegbulam due to some complicit inactions within his 8 months in power as the Chairman of IIRS.

It is now on record that Udegbulam was sacked for an obvious misappropriation of public funds by the Shared Prosperity Mission government of Governor Uzodinma.

More news had it that the Governor has promised never to allow corruption and impunity to see the light of the day in his 3R’s Mantra leadership.

Some cross-section of Imolites has collectively commended Gov.Uzodinma for the sack of Udegbulam, even as they expressed optimism concerning the supposed looming sack of some government appointees who are bent on jeopardizing the government of the day.
