Imo Lawyers Protest Against Gruesome Murder Of Magistrate Oguh By Unknown Assassins In Orlu

A cross section of legal practitioners (lawyers) under the umbrella body of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Imo State Chapter, Friday,Nov.30th 2018,took an aggressive protest into the major roads, streets and ended at the Police Commissioners Office in Owerri over the alleged gruesome murder of a Magistrate based, Chief Barr. R. C. Oguh, who until his sudden death resident in Orlu area of the state.
The practicing lawyers from across the 27 LGA’s of the state trooped out in their larger numbers, armed with various placards inscriptions, banners and chanting all kinds of war/sympathy songs over the ungodly killing of their colleague by some unknown assassins allegedly hired by enemies of progress especially to the immediate family of Oguh.
The lawyers who briefed newsmen over the tragic nature of Late Oguh’s sad story of his demise, raised eye brow and therefore condemned the kind of death saga heard on their colleague.
They later dragged a protest match to the office of State Chief Judge, Hon. Paschal Nnadi, represented by the Deputy Chief Registrar, Mrs. Edith C. Ibeawuchi, who frowned at what she described as evil and unlawful.
She said is like the judiciary and the lawyers are now targets points of hoodlums in Imo State but maintained that the authorities shall fight against such evil and unacceptable actions by the men of underworld.
Later, the lawyers continued their protest to the authority of the Imo State Police Command Owerri, where they were assured that the operatives of the police must work harder to fish out the murderers of one of their senior colleague, Late Barr. Chief R.C.Oguh.
The Chairman, NBA Orlu Chapter, Barr.Chuzzy Atama, while speaking said ” it is our frantic demand to take our condemnation to the office of the National judiciary to be fully aware of the evil”.
Barr. Atama, in his words, lamented that the armed men, hired assassins and hoodlums are now against the men of bench (magistrates and judges) in Imo State.
“We want the security agencies to fish out the killers of Oguh, who is until his death the seating Magistrate in Orlu”,Atama disclosed.
” We are ceasing this opportunity to tell President Muhammadu Buhari and the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha ensure that those involved in the killing of the Magistrate are brought to book even as he appeals to the government to provide to the courts duty police for effective security”,Atama requested.
The NBA Imo State Chairman, Barr.Damian Onwubiko Nosike, expressively condemned the gruesome murder of Late Chief Oguh,even as he called on the police to ensure that all those involved in that wicked act are brought to book.
He prayed that Almighty God should grant the family of Oguh the fortitude to bear the loss.
Barr.Nosike therefore called on the members of the association to take heart but always pray for the departed soul of Late Oguh.
He however charged the police and other security agencies to ensure that those assassins were apprehended.
