On last Tuesday, Feb.12th 2019, some of the Imo State Governorship party candidates from various political parties signed an agreement document that the police described as a Peace Accord/peace pact at the premises of the Imo State Police Headquarters in Owerri, the state capital of Imo State.

The organizer of the peace pact, Commissioner of Police, Imo State, Mr.Dasuki Galadanchi, in his address/words, told all the people who were in attendance especially the party guber candidates, party chairmen, heads of other security agencies and many others that witnessed the accord that his command is ever committed to ensure that a very peaceful election exercise is held, conducted and concluded in the state, come Feb.16th/March 2nd polls in the state.

Chief Dasuki said,” I am sincerely using this singular opportunity to remind all the candidates running for governorship to that only one of them will become the next Imo Governor. And as such a winner must surely emerge and losers will as well emerge. If you win, it means it is your turn/time to lead Imo State like the best way you can. If you lose, it will also provide you a very great opportunity to re-evaluate, re-strategized and to re-contest as the case may be”, he stated.

The Imo INEC REC, Prof. Francise Ezeonu, expressed readiness and noted that his Commission is very much prepared to offer free, fair and transparent polls.

The Imo PDP governorship candidate, Emeka Ihedioha, that of AA,Uche Nwosu, and that of APC, Hope Uzodinma, Mazi Okey Ezeh, of SDP, respectively said they have confidence on INEC and the security agencies but called on them (INEC and other Electoral Umpires) to put all their efforts to ensure transparent polls.

They (the guber candidates) therefore promised that themselves and their political supporters would remain law abiding even as they boasted that they very poised, ready and prepared to win their elections.
