The Bauchi State All Progressives Change, APC, Chairman, Uba Nana has been accused of perpetuating illegality and taking the party in the State to the path of destruction.
The accusation was made through a letter written to the National Chairman of the party Chief John Oyegun. In the letter dated 29th December, 2016 it stated thus; “it is with greatest respect and consideration that we write to inform you of the situation of our great party APC in Bauchi State, especially as it relates to the actions recently taken by the State Chapter of the party.”
In the letter signed by Hon. Shu’abu Abubakar Isma’il Rahama who is the state Deputy Chairman, it said; “Mr. Chairman may we wish to recall the several submissions we collectively and individually made regarding our illegal suspension and expulsion from the party: the intervention made by some senior stakeholders of the party and in particular the delegation led by the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the House of Representatives regarding the same issue.”
“It is pertinent to point out that these efforts have received appropriate response from the National Secretariat in which a letter was written to the State party Chairman Uba Ahmed Nana dated 10th October, 2015; empathically drawing his attention to the provisions of the party constitution where the letter states as follows: “No state chapter of the party has the power to suspend or expel any member from the party until all avenues are explored towards amicable resolution, through the office of the National Vice Chairman in consultation with the Headquarters.”
The letter which was co-signed by Alhaji Musa Adamu Lar, the zonal Vice Chairman South and Hon, Harsanu Yunusa Guyaba, it stated further; sadly and ironically, the state party chairman Uba Ahmed Nana in a meeting with the State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar in attendance on Wednesday 21st December, 2016 under the cover if the so called expanded party Exco meeting which was poorly attended, took a decision to summarily dismissed us and replaced us with the following people, thus, State Deputy Chairman Hon.Shu’aibu Abubakar Isma’il Rahama replaced with Mohammed Hassan Tilde, Zonal Vice Chairman South Musa Adamu Lar replaced with Murtala Ibrahim, State treasurer Hon. Harsanu Yunusa Guyaba replaced with Hassan Lawal Cheledi (see Daily Trust Newspaper Monday 26th December, 2016 Page 37).
“This is illegal, unconstitutional and a charade that cannot in eyes of the law. We saw these actions as a deliberate ploy to destroy the party in the State and to jeopardize the love of our people to our able President Muhammadu Buhari. We also see it as a continuation of the State Party Chairman Uba Ahmed Nana and the Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar working against the President Muhammadu Buahri’s candidature comes 2019 as they did in December 2014 at the Taslim Balogun Stadium Lagos by removing his loyal supporters and replaced them with those that will be at their beck and call,” the letter said.
According to the party members in the letter they also said; “ In view of the foregoing and the inability of the National Headquarter to enforce its own directives and after exhausting all avenues to seek for redress, especially as it relates to the letter dated 10th October, 2015, we are left with no option but to seek, for some viable alternatives.”
“It is therefore necessary and inevitable for us to put the party on notice our decision to provide an alternative accommodation to operate and run offices legitimately as bonafide duly elected officials.”
The letter was copied to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation(SGF), the Chief of Staff to the President State House, Abuja, the Inspector General of Police, the Director State Security Services Abuja, the Commandant General National Security and Civil Defence Corp Abuja, the Right Hon.
