Reliable Information from the Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia has revealed that the management of the institution compelled the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 sessions to pay N2,000 running to N19, 000,000 million to enable the school accredit her courses.
A document from the office of the Deputy Rector, Augustine Ali Gabu covering the office of the Rector indicated that during the reign of the embattled Rector Silas Gyar collected N2000 each from students.
While In 2016/2017 session when Silas Gyar (Dogagbo Runkpa) generated whooping N13, 000,0000,00 million for the accreditation of courses a process that did not see the light of the day.
The Rector covering the office of the Rector, Augustine Ali Gabu generated the total sum of N6,000,000.00 million ,the nagging question to asked was under whose directive was Gabu collecting the money for accreditation of courses, the State Government or the State ministry of Education ?
It would be recalled that the accreditation of the institution has expired barely two years and without frantic effort to effect accreditation.
The Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, Lafia, Paul Useni expressed concerned over the non- accreditation of courses by the former management with the huge amount of revenue generated from internally generated revenue and other sources.
“We wrote to the Commissioner of Education on the anomalies committed by the former management”.
The only solution to this obstacle is for the State Government to release the whitepaper, I know with the White paper, sky would be the starting point, said Useni.
The former Rector, Silas Gyar declined comment when text messages and calls were sent to him by universalreportersng.com.
