Unknown-Gunmen
Yet to be identified gunmen, Thursday killed a Palace guard in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Mr. Wetle Gwana.
Gwana, a guard in the Palace of the District Head of Mangu, Mr. Nelson Bakfur was reportedly shot in his residence in Lanoghot village, near Sabon Gari military checkpoint at about midnight.
A Local Government official reports that the guard’s son who attempted to confront the assailants was equally shot.
The son however survived with severe injuries and is currently admitted in the LGA’s Cottage hospital.
The attack comes barely a month after 16 of Kulben and Murish villages of Kombun District in the LGA were killed by suspected herdsmen.
Tensions arising from the attack have forced the regular Friday market in Mangu town to close down.
Motorists traveling through the town have equally been turned back by military Forces, it is gathered.
No official comment has however been obtained on the incident.
