A fresh attack has happened in Kombun community of Mangu Local Government. Universal Reporters gathered that the gunmen carried out the attack at Kulben village in Kombun district of Mangu LGA on Wednesday 8th January 2020.
It was learnt that the gunmen after rustling some cattle in pankshin, killed 12 persons in Mangu.
It was also gathered that security agencies has arrested 7 suspects connected to the killings and normalcy is gradually being restored to the area
Meanwhile Pllateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has condemned Wednesday attack as he stressed that the government won’t allow anyone or group make nonsense of its peace efforts.
Speaking the Police Public Relations Officer in Plateau State, Mr Mathias Tyopev, while confirming the attack said the Police Commissioner has sent out top officers of the Command to the affected areas.
He said “Ye, it is true. We received information of cattle rustling and killing of people in some areas in Mangu.
“As I talk to you right now, the Commissioner of Police has deployed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to the affected communities. He is still there right now.
“I cannot speak further on the matter because his assessment of the situation will form the basis of our report and information we will give out.”
According to the villagers who witnessed the incident, said, the escaping rustlers killed the victims in Kerang and Konbun communities of Mangu as they were accosted by the youths in the areas.
The further said that the youths has arrested three of the gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen and also recovered the rustled cows.
