The management committee Chairman of Shendam Local Government council, Hon Alexander Miskoom Naantuam has revealed that promoting entrepreneurship through medium and small scale enterprises for economic development is cardinal to the progress and development of Plateau state.
Speaking to journalists in Jos the state capital, while commiserating with governor Simon Lalong of successful 2016 Jos trade fair, he said the state demonstrates confidence of encouraging prospective investors to this vast economic and industrial potentials safety of our climate.
Hon Naantuam urged investors coming in to take advantage of boundless opportunities to explore the great potentials of this state.
“We thank the governor of plateau state, His Excellency Rt.Hon Barrister’s Simon Bako Lalong for his genuine intention for industrialization and entrepreneurship in the state”,he explained.
Naantuam reiterated that southern plateau is largest fertile land for the farming of maize’s, sorghum, cassava, yam ,rice ,sweet potatoes, Sudan potatoes, hot pepper, bambara -nut ,moringa olifera ,neem-trees, cotton, sugar caneand among others ,livestock farming of sheep ,goats and pigs .
He disclosed that plateau south is endowed with abundance solid mineral deposits, the tin, cassiterite, columbite which were extracted from the Jos Plateau beginning from 1902 when it was discovered in commercial quantities formed as the bedrock of the national economy.
The Council boss called on federal government to commence industrial mineral deposits like barytes, tantalite, Kaolin, salt, marble, clay, zircon ,glass ,quartz ,galena NA gemstones which has commercial base in the southern zone of plateau.
“We recall that WASE LGA has recently become the hub of gemstone, zinc, led copper and chacopherite (fool’s gold mining “,hon Naantuam appeals .
He said government should focus more on revitalizing the tourism sector,we have the famous WASE rock game reserve ,the pandam wild life park and lake Quaan-pan LGA. Both were established in 1970.
Adding, he said there are also tranchyte pillar height of the murchison hill (luham,in Mikang ) and the Jalbang hills ,Doeben and Ruom ox-bow lakes in Shendam with some of the tourists attractions Magama natural pond inhabitants for Hippopotamus in Langtang south.
