House Of Representatives Committee On Education Summons Sole Administrator COE, Akwanga, As She Goes Into Hiding

The College of Education, Akwanga, Nasarawa state was plunged into confusion following the missing of the Sole Administrator, Roseline Kela when the House of Representatives Committee on Maritime Administration and  Education was at the College for an oversight function.

 

The visiting team comprises three members House of Representatives including Honorable Gaza Gwefi, members Representing Kokona/Karu/Keffi Federal constituency, Hon. Manu Soro from Bauchi and one other.

 

The committee members expressed disappointment over the absence of the Sole Administrator as they asked pertinent questions which include a list of companies qualified for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund contract, whether the contractors have other documents indicating they are dully qualified for such contracts, and amongst other necessary documents.

 

“Please Journalist writes this report, is very important while considering what is ongoing in the College currently”one of the members insisted.

 

The Sole Administrator, Roseline Kela as at press time did not respond to several calls by our reporter, an insider revealed that money to the tune of N458,000,000m captured in the hand over note could not be accounted for.

 

It was unfolded that the former Provost Dr. Rebecca Isaac Umaru left N400,000,000m in the TETFUND Account while in the school account was N58, 000,000m.

 

It was gathered that out of the N58,000,000m, the then Provost directed that contractors that handle the printing of booklet should be paid their N11,000,000m, but after 8 months, Kela was yet to settle the debt, This compelled the contractors to file a suit in a competent court against the College.

 

Questions that needed answers was what happened to the N58,000,000m that was handed to the Sole Administrator during the nationwide lockdown?

 

It was further gathered that the allegations leveled against Dr. Umaru even with the white paper still the same sins were been committed, those things include the chunk amount of money given out to the Provost was the same amount that was given to the Sole Administrator as allowances.

 

Other allegations raised against the Sole Administrator was a high level of ineptitude exhibited by her is a cause to worry about as her absence affects academic activities of the College.

 

Staff from the College buttressed that Kela was suffering from depression since when she assumed office on February 13, 2020.

 

He further maintained that the Sole Administrator slumped in her office and was rushed to one of the Tertiary health facility where she was been taking care of.

 

He, however, said Roseline Kela is recuperating from her ailment which has a link to heart-related issues.

 

“She told me that her daughter is preparing for her passing out parade as a corper and she will join us in the afternoon”.

 

A member of the Governing Council’s swift intervention saved the ugly impasse between the House of Representatives Committee on Education.

 

The member, Hon. Muhammed Sarki Tanko (Danmajen Azara) pleaded with the Committee, saying the management and the Governing Council would visit the committee at the National Assembly before the week runs out.
