Hon Yakubu Sanda Pulls 9,222 To Win Pengana Constituency Bye Election In Plateau(Full Results Details Inside)

The All Progressive Congress ,APC, Hon  Yakubu Yackson Sanda,has  pulled nine thousand two hundred and twenty  two,9,222 votes to beat his closest rival Yakubu Busa Buji of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored seven thousand and eighty three  7,083 votes to emerge the winner of bye election held on Saturday in Pengana constituency of the state house of assembly .

 

Hon Sanda was declared winner by the returning officer in charge of independent Electoral Commission ,INEC , at the constituency headquarters .

 

Hon Yakubu Sanda said ,I was so delighted to Almighty God for me this opportunity to be member representing the good people of Pengana constituency .

 

He added ,I started this journey since 2003 and I couldn’t be given the mandate but at the appropriate time the Lord had listen to the voice of my people so me iam so gracious .

 

However ,what matter to me now is for God to give me the wisdom to drive constituent projects that can impact positively in the lives of people of Pengana constituency.

 

Sanda stressed the need of people is very paramount and before vying for the position he has ten plates programs towards boosting the women and youth .

 

He appreciated his wife Mrs Sanda for her support throughout this years of struggle by calling on others contestant to emulate the spirit of sportsmanship of tolerance to one another .

 

Meanwhile ,the National Chairman of Buhari Campaign Organization ,BCO , Hon Danladi Pasali expressed optimism of the landslide victory of the All Progressive Congress ,APC , in the bye election held in Pengana constituency state House of Assembly .

 

Speaking to our correspondent at Government College Jengre in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state on Saturday .

 

Pasali said the turnout of voters was not too encouraging owning to the fact that most of the electorate couldn’t hid their feeling that they are members of the Seventh Days Adventist ,there were voters apathy at polling station in Mr. Ali area, Bassa during Saturday by-election

 

There seems to be a general voter apathy in the ongoing by-election for the member representing Pengana constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly.

 

The Bassa Local Government Constituency became vacant after its member-elect, Mr. Ezekiel Afon slumped and died hours after being announced winner of the March 2019 State polls.

 

The Independent National Electoral Commission had fixed Saturday August 3, 2019 for reelection into the sit.

 

Election officials however arrived polling stations as early as 8am but as of 12 noon, only a handful of voters had turned out.

 

In some polling units, the election officials were seen idle with no single voter to attend to.

 

The Chairman of Bassa Local Government Area, Mr. Chindo Gona attributed the low turnout to increasing farming activities.

 

“This is a rainy season and many people are concerned about their crops in the farms,” said the chairman in an interview.

 

Mr. Chindo Gona inspects polling centres some voters however claimed the low turnout was due to loss of confidence in the electoral system.

 

Mr. Sunday Afon, a resident of Mr. Ali community in the locality told our correspondent, “people believe that their votes wont count, therefore it’s best not to waste time on the process.”

The APC state secretary ,Barr Bashir Musan-Sati  who was among state officials supervising the polls however believes the system can only change with active public participation.

 

He said the low turnout was due church service doesn’t mean it will fail ,we are sure of victory .

 

As of the time of publishing this report, all the polling stations were peaceful with massive security presence.
