Hon Azi Assures Of APC Readiness To Conduct A Hitch Free Congress

The Speaker Plateau state of Assembly Rt Hon Peter Ajang Azi has assured of the All Progressive Congress, APC, readiness in winning the Governorship and Presidential election.

 

Azi stated this to journalists at the headquarters of Jos North Local Government Area during the Ward Congress scheduled across the 774 LGAs in Nigeria.

 

He expressed confidence that the parry stakeholders came together to brainstorm on how to conduct hitch free exercise without any rancor which he said was adhered strictly.

 

Rt Hon Azi maintained that with the peaceful conduct of party faithful the sky is the limit because they have been guided, against any breach of law and order.

 

He congratulated all the wards delegates for their show of understanding and maturity during the affirmation exercise, we asked each of the 20 wards to clarify their mind on whether those who were chosen to represent them have the quality and pedigree of holding the said office.

 

According to him, the selection and the endorsement was duly followed from the national secretariat down to the state and the wards level.

 

He said, the reason for endorsement of all the candidates was in fulfillment of party ranking, we know we cannot allow miscreants to take the advantage to cause mayhem to the venue.

 

On his part, committee chairman Jos North LG Philip lzam said going by the fragile nature of the local government, the committee cannot afford to risk going through the process for the sake of safety.

 

He said although a committee was set-up to deliberate on the modalities for the conduct of Ward Congress which RT. Hon Simon Lalong is the chairman notwithstanding, “Any time you made an arrangement, in any given time you discovered you have special needs, I don’t think is out of place to bring plans to accommodate the special needs which we just did.”

 

Philip maintained that the Congress is ongoing as the council is not in a position to embark on a venture which is too bogus financially, security wise and other issues which are the reasons, “we are taken it Ward by Ward for transparency. The difference is just polling units.

 

On the insinuations that the political appointees in the council, particularly in Jos North are just hidden under security to circumvent election, the chairman said the committee is not having power over the election which solely is the responsibility of PLASIEC in the state. So there are no stakeholders in the state who may wish to circumvent any election in Jos North,” he said.

 

He maintained that it is people who are insinuating that are making it suit their purpose, “as we are here to see that the right thing is done, he said.
