As the 14.days ultimatum given by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, Nasarawa State Polytechnic Lafia expires next week , the State Commissioner of Education, Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Aliyu told ASUP members to hold the management. of the Institution responsible and accountable.

He gave the advice during an interview with some Journalists in his office.

The Commissioner asserted that is no longer news that the management of tertiary institutions are those superintending over the affairs of implementation of promotion.

“Every grievance should be channeled to the management of Polytechnic but not the State government”.

Ahmed Tijjani Aliyu described the 14 days ultimatum given by ASUP as an affront on the State government.

“The ultimatum is timid and cannot be tolerated by the State government, he added.

“We had a round-table discussion with the executive of ASUP and the overall discussion yielded result,i don’t know why they are reversing the treaty, the Commissioner has said.

Commenting on the issue of hostels accommodation, he affirmed that all the new hostels build by governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura would be occupied by students.

The Commissioner averred that the State government has invested huge amount of money in the building of hostels in the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, College of Education, Akwanga College of Agriculture, Lafia and the Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia.

When asked whether the State government has the intention to renovate the existing dilapidated hostels accommodation in the State College of Education, Akwanga, the Commissioner disclosed that the renovation of public schools will be only in Secondary schools cut across the State.

Speaking on the recent destruction of over 15 public schools in Doma Local Government by rainstorm, Hon. Tijjani disclosed that the State government is on top of the situation.

He revealed that over 35 schools ranging from Primary and Secondary schools were affected by the rainstorm.

Saying the State who swung into action by embarking on restructuring of the affected schools as well extend her benevolence to other schools, he added.
