The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Abdullahi Sule to direct the State Commissioner of Police to deploy security personnel to Doma Local Government Area to quell the tension which was as a result of attacks in Daudu in Benue State and it was escalated to neigboring Nasarawa’ State resulting in the loss of lives.
The House said it was to maintain peace and order in the area following reports of tension in Doma South constituency.
The Speaker of the House, Dr. Danladi Jatau, gave the hint when the member representing Doma South, Musa Abubakar Ibrahim, brought the issue under matters of public interest.
Jatau opined that the security of lives and properties remains the top priority of the Government, adding that peace is the best instrument for the development of every society.
“First and foremost, the house resolves that we appreciate the great effort of Governor Abdullahi Sule in sustaining peace in the State.
” We urge the Governor, as the Chief Security Officer of the State, to direct the Commissioner of Police to deploy security personnel to Doma to maintain peace and order,” he said.
Earlier, the member representing Doma South at the Assembly, Musa Ibrahim Abubakar raised alarm over security threats and tension in his constituency, calling for urgent intervention to curb the situation.
Contributing, Mr. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki spoke extensively on the benefit of peace to societal development, stressing the need for more security effort by the security operatives to sustain peace in the society.
