An outbreak of hepatitis and other deadly diseases has caused the death of 28 persons in Doma Local Government Area of Nassarawa State.
Following the incident, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has urged the state government to declare a state of emergency on hepatitis.
The appeal was made during plenary, under a matter of public importance, brought before it by Musa Ibrahim (NNPP- Doma South) on the deaths of the people in his constituency due to hepatitis.
Mr Jatau said declaring a state of emergency on hepatitis would go a long way in curtailing the spread of diseases while containing it to improving the health status of the people in general.
,The Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau sympathised with the people of Doma South and bereaved families over the loss of their loved ones and prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest.
”We have two resolutions to the effect that Gov. Abdullahi Sule is hereby directed (advised) to ask the Ministry of Health to move their experts to the affected communities.
”Secondly, the state government should declare a state of emergency on hepatitis and other deadly diseases in the state,” he said.
The speaker directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the resolutions of the house to the governor for further necessary action.
