Haske Declares For Adamawa Guber, Unveils “A.D.A.M.A.W.A FIRST” Seven-Point Agenda At Mahmud Ribadu Square

Alhaji Abdulrahman Bashir Haske has formally declared his intention to contest the Adamawa State governorship in the 2027 general elections on Saturday, addressing a large crowd at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola.
Speaking before traditional rulers, party leaders, religious scholars, captains of industry, and members of the diaspora, Haske described the declaration as a historic moment for the state. He acknowledged representatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the event.
Haske commended Governor Fintiri for what he called verifiable progress in healthcare, road connectivity, security cooperation, and fiscal discipline. He said the foundation laid by the current administration would be sustained and expanded under his agenda.
At the federal level, he praised President Tinubu for bold reforms including fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification. Haske said history would recognize the long-term wisdom of those decisions and declared his full support for Tinubu’s second term bid.
Before thousands of supporters gathered at the square, Haske declared that he would seek the governorship under the APC in 2027. He said the decision followed consultations with stakeholders across Adamawa and calls from citizens who cited the work of the AB Haske Foundation.
He unveiled his policy blueprint tagged “A.D.A.M.A.W.A FIRST”, describing it as a seven-point agenda aligned with the realities of the state. He said the plan targets economic expansion, youth development, and inclusive growth.
Under Agriculture and Agro-Industry, Haske set a target of a N300 billion export-grade economy with 1 million new jobs. He proposed a N200 billion Agri-Guarantee Fund, the Great Canal Project for dual-season farming, and cited his 48,000 tonnes per year rice mill that has created over 5,000 jobs.
The Development and Infrastructure pillar promises a minimum of 25 kilometers of roads per LGA annually, renewable electricity for homes and hospitals, clean water for every community, and expanded digital connectivity for youth.
For Access to Social Development, he pledged to rehabilitate 500 schools through a Safe and Solar Schools Initiative, recruit 3,000 STEM teachers, and expand health insurance to 1 million residents within 36 months, with subsidies for vulnerable groups.
Meaningful Youth Inclusion will focus on measurable outcomes, capital and skills for entrepreneurs, and technology-driven governance. Haske said more than 60 percent of Adamawa’s population is under 30, and that reality must shape the next leadership.
His Accountable and Inclusive Governance plan includes zero tolerance for corruption, digital tracking of public funds, open budgeting, independent oversight, and equitable distribution of projects across all 21 LGAs.
On Wealth Creation and Economic Empowerment, Haske proposed a PPP Commerce Growth Initiative to attract investors while prioritizing local value addition. He promised targeted support for farmers, traders, artisans, and professionals.
For Assurance of Security, he announced an Adamawa Security Trust Fund, tech-driven security systems, trained vigilante partnerships, and Dialogue Councils in all LGAs to address farmer-herder conflicts and improve intelligence sharing.
Haske linked his agenda to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, calling them complementary visions for national growth. He told the crowd he was not asking for power but for the honour to serve, adding that “Haske means Light” and pledging to bring that light through his seven commitments.
