The Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, Hon John Damap has presented one Mr Hudung Stephen Gyang as the winner of the bet 9ja twenty one kilometre marathons Championship, female elite category.
The event was held in Pankshin LGA on Saturday been the second edition of the championship, the winner went home with one hundred and fifty thousand star prize.
Meanwhile, Gideon Goyet emerged the winner of the elite male category, Iliya Gyang clinched the second position and the third prize went to Jigak Monday.
Also, Nanlop Danladi won the second prize of the elite and Blessings shabor got the third position.
In the non-elite female category Maryamu Ezekiel emerged the winner while Jemimah Aminu got the second place and Krisitmwa Stephen won the third position.
Kwat Jacob emerged the overall winner of the non-elite male category to relinquish the second and third positions to Dekom Gayus and John Danjuma respectively.
Hon Damap, said that the tournament have really empowered the athletes and also improve the performances but solicited the cooperation of spirited individuals and government to come in boosting the games by attracting local and international athletes.
He opined that if spirited organizations and individuals will emulate the bet 9ja it will really go a long way to engage the youths to go into sporting activities.
According to him,” sports is one of the most lucrative business that unify all Nigerian that has bring about peaceful existence in the state and the country at large, so we in Pankshin we are grateful to bet 9ja for this honour given to us.
He described the peaceful disposition of Pankshin people including the weather been experience as one tourist area.
I want to thank the organizers for choosing Plateau Central senatorial district for the program, which indeed is an empowerment to the youths ,as the chairman assured them of his full support.
Earlier, Timon Gunen, Chairman Plateau State Athletics Association expressed happiness with the sponsor of the tournament.
“I want to appreciate bet 9ja for agreeing to partner with us and by the grace of God we will continue to grow from strength to strength”
He commended the chairman of Pankshin for his support in ensuring the success of the tournament.
Also, David Akintunde, bet 9ja super-agent emphasized that their organization would sponsor more champions in order to empower the youths and brighten their future.
“Today’s tournaments have been a success and we hope for a better one in the next edition. This year’s Championship is far better than the last one, he added.
He appreciated the Chairman of the local government for the success of the championship and commended the athletes for their peaceful conduct during the event.
On his part, Simon moven, Director of Sports who was represented stated that the tournament will indeed empower the youths.
He maintained that the council has been encouraging this type of programs because it brings development to the youths and the nation at large.
“The youths the factors of development in the country and engaging them positively is a welcome idea and that is my prayers to the participants is to go beyond the shores of this state”.
