Bauchi strong group for democracy and good governance initiative (BSGDGI) has urged the chapter of All progressives Congress (APC) to strongly sanction its members found dragging the image of some Bauchi elders and that of a former TETFUND boss in the mud.
This followed the recent attack on high profile personalities from Bauchi state, leaders of repute through a newspaper publication dated 11th March, 2016 aimed to ridicule Professor Sulaiman Elias Bogoro whose contribution to nation building for improved education was highly commended and recognized globally.
Chairman of the group Alhaji Mua’zu Chiroma made the statement while presenting a letter to the APC state secretary on behalf of the party at the secretariat with a request to bring to book the authors of recent newspaper advertorial which was an attempt to cast bad aspersion against notable elders even when they appreciated Bogoro’s achievement in solidarity irrespective of any political, religious and tribal bigotry.
The group had demanded to know if the coalition truly stands for peace and justice as it claimed because its foot prints clearly justify hand writing on the wall targeted against some section of the state which contradicts the ideals of Bauchi founding fathers.
“One may guess that the authors of the said publication speak the minds of their sponsors and acted the script of enemies of President Buhari towards the APC change mantra in their desperation for manipulative power which they do not worth. It’s sad to note that those castigating our elders are from Baucho state who have benefited from the labour they suffered to build the entire and the state just for their Selfish interest,” said chiroma.
The chairman maintained that the group will not henceforth fold its arm, watching faceless coalition smearing the good image of credible elders in Bauchi State, rather it will stand as gatekeeper in the protection of Bauchi citizens’ right through dialogue.
According to Chiroma, the Newspaper Publication against Bogoro and their elders is a justification that Bauchi State people are washing its linen before the public saying its a shame as to why the appointment of Bogoro appears to be an abuse to the state.
“We had several people that were appointed in FG, state and LG level without any petition, but its unfortunate the good character exhibited by Bogoro while in office appears to open a can of warms to those who earlier failed their responsibilities to the nation and for their people,” Chiroma said.
He therefore urged for unity among Bauchi state citizens saying; “we can succeed only when we eschew our differences.”
Receiving the letter on behalf the APC state chairman, the party secretary Barrister Buhari Disina promise that the party will in no distance convey an executive meeting to find out those responsible for that newspaper publication.
Disina had pointed out that Bogoro as person done a lot to bring succor to Muslim communities especially during fasting and Sallah festivities while in office and urge for unity among Bauchi citizens.
