A socio-political organization known as North-east Concern Movement for Democracy (CMDN) has on Tuesday tackles the Senate committee on humanitarian crisis over its effort to drag the name of the Secretary to the government of the federation, SGF Babachir David Lawal in the mud.

The group made this known in a press statement distributed to journalists in Bauchi state which was jointly signed by the Chairman, Alhaji Bala Saleh and secretary, Comrade Mai-Awaki Bababan-Fati.

The statement said it has noted with displeasure that mischief makers are being sponsored to ridicule the heard earned reputation of the Secretary to the government of the federation Babachir David Lawal by fabricating unfounded allegations against his person.

” We noted with displeasure and recently realised that mischief makers are being sponsored to ridicule the heard earned image of the SGF through formulating unfounded allegations linking him to funds meant for North east development  commission.

And sadly enough it is coming from Senate committee on humanitarian crisis under the learned leadership of Senator Shehu Sani who is expected to concentrate in initiating vibrant laws to protect the interest of his immediate constituency in Kaduna state and whose political future is in limbo now that he suffers serious setback in commandeering his sitting governor”. The statement read.

The group accused the Senate committee on humanitarian crisis of harboured plans to aggressively deny the entire Northeast region the sharing formula of the federal character commission, saying they will not hesitate to caution the committee to desist from the nefarious act.

The statement further advised the committee to stop any attempt to indict the SGF just to drag his good image in the mud in the event of implementing the script of their masters who have failed to drag the Buhari led administration to plunder.

” We have since realised that Sani Senate committee appears to have a perceived political scores to settle with the Northeast targeting at Babachir David Lawal linking them against the oil exploration in the Northeast before the bi- cameral house sensing that the SGF is an engine of the federal government in the implementations of the good policy and programs of Buhari”. It said.

The group admonished Senator Shehu Sani to toe the path of honour and support governor Nadir El-rufai to tackle the challenges bedeviling Kaduna state, adding that instead of mischief making, Sani and his masters should support the present administration of Buhari in the fight against corruption, expressing their total support to the Senate investigative panel set up by president Muhammadu Buhari under the minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

They expressed optimism that Babachir has not diverted any funds meant for the Northeast Development commission (NDC) as insinuated , describing the allegations as the ” figment of the imaginators to rob Northeast from enjoying their fair share of appointments and dividends of democracy”, cautioning mediocrates  to sheath their swards to ensure purposeful development in the country.

The statement added that the Babachir is known for his humanitarian assistance even before he was appointed the Secretary to the government of the federation by providing succour to the internally displaced persons,  IDPs not only in his home state Adamawa but most of the vicinities ravaged by the activities of the insurgents, noting that it was erroneous for the Senate committee on humanitarian crisis to accuse the SGF of financial misappropriation.

The group said they have since toured the areas affected by insurgents in Hong local government area of Adamawa state ., especially villages such as Kwambla and Garaha including other places that require attention, advising senator Sani led committee to be fair and just while carrying out their constitutional assignment.
