The Plateau Central Senatorial District Candidate of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Yohanna Y.Gotom , has congratulated all the party winners at the National /State Houses of Assembly election petition tribunal’s verdict.
He applauded that, the tribunal upheld Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang victory in the March 2023 general election.
The tribunal dismissed the petitions filed by Dr Nentawe Yolwatda of the All-Progressives Congress, APC, challenging Mutfwang’s victory.
In a unanimous decision, the tribunal held that all petitions were “devoid of merit” and Gotom called on the tribunal to find merits in his petition and declare him winner of the Plateau Central Senatorial District seat as the winner.
In a statement signed by Gotom, he congratulated Nigerians on the 63rd Anniversary celebration that the judgments are a” great victory for Nigeria’s constitutional democracy and the rule of law”.
The PDP candidate said Nigeria’s democracy has been further strengthened by the faithful adherence of all parties to the electoral process and their reliance on the courts in the event of dispute.
“Congratulations to Governor Caleb Manasseh Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo, and our great party the PDP on the judicial affirmation of the victory at the election of 2023,” the statement reads.
“This judgment is a great victory for Nigeria’s constitutional democracy and its rule of law. The practice of democracy in our nation has been further strengthened by the fact that all parties faithfully followed the electoral process according to the law and relied on our courts in the event of dispute.
“Our Nation now needs all of us, to work together to address our challenges and to deliver the realization of the incredible potentials of our Nation.”
Gotom called on the supporters to remain resolute and believe in the tribunal judgments as victory is close for digital senator.
