Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has described the utterances by the immediate past Honorable Minister of Inflation, Labaran Maku, alleging plans to use highly placed Police officers to rig the election in nine electoral wards of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the State.
The State Governor, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Comrade Peter Ahemba, refuted the allegation as a complete falsehood during a press conference held at the State Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council.
The State Government, however, averred that the claims are reckless by Labaran Maku, the Senatorial candidate of the Labour Party (L.P), who claimed that 80 percent of the electorate in Nasarawa Eggon are card-carrying members of the Labour Party.
The SSA to the Governor on Public Affairs said Maku averred that Governor Abdullahi Sule held a meeting at the Government House with security Chiefs to perfect a purported plan to undermine the election, saying the Governor was busy in Abuja and Lagos promoting the investment prospect of the State through a series of engagements with foreign investors on that fateful day.
Ahemba refuted the allegation that State Government is redeploying the police Area Commander to create conditions for rigging is particularly reckless
The former Minister of Information disclosed that election manipulation in the State will trigger insecurity while an articulated election will ensure democratic participation, he added
Comrade Peter Ahemba opined that the administration will remain committed in engaging traditional rulers.
While reacting on the report of the former Chairman of Karu Local Government Area, Honorable Samuel Akala of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, describing the twin Flyover and Underpass as a misplaced priority.
According to the SSA on Public Affairs to Governor Abdullahi Sule, Comrade Peter Ahemba said is a well Thought out as a former Karu Local Government Area Chairman, saying his reaction over the twin Flyover and Underpass is an envy by a member of the opposition party.
“I was touched by the reaction of someone who knows Karu more than anybody when it comes to gridlock being faced by commuters travelling to the Federal Capital Territory through Karu to Abuja”.
The twin Flyover and Underpass, when completed, will boost the socioeconomic activities of the State and will add an aesthetic to the gateway.
