The Provost, College of Nursing Sciences, Lafia has commended the Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule for the upgrading of the school to College.
He gave the hint during an exclusive interview with selected Journalists at his office.
He confided that the entire effort put in place by the visitor to the College was part of the effort of the Chief executive to navigate to a move advanced institution of learning. that will guarantee quality education to its citizenry.
The Provost revealed that the College is the least in terms of amount charged per student as the school fee was N35,000 per semester which lasted for three months,
He confided that the entire amount for one year is N70,000 cumulatively for six months only for those on the Preliminary programme.
Appealing to the management, staff, and students of the College to support the good work of the State Government.
Zari Sardauna Solomon said part of the State Government commitment includes the training and retraining of teaching staff to further their education, Giving the breakdown of lecturers, and tutors to 46.
According to him “We in the College of Nursing Sciences out of the forty-six existing lecturers and tutors, have 21 study leave, We have 14 Sciences based Lecturers,9 clinical services with 11 Nursing tutors respectively.
“The entire 46 lecturers and tutors are all graduates, Most of them are running their masters in various institutions of learning within, He disclosed.
The Acting Provost denied the proliferation of results of the College, instead maintaining the College has only access to testimonials while the Nursing Council of Nigeria is the only recognized regulator and has the custody of the genuine certificate, He added.
While fielding questions on the management exchanging hands for admission even if a candidate is not qualify for admission, Zari Solomon also denied that, Saying all admission issues are handled by the State Ministry of Health.

“For your information Journalists, if a student fails the examination of prelim for three consecutive times, is automatically no longer a member of the Nursing Council of Nigeria.
“In essence, the Council will send him packing and peradventure if he ventures into practice the Council will declare him a quack because he has no certificate”
Speaking on the sharing formula for admission, He attested that admission into the College of Nursing Sciences was done based on a quota system with Lafia the State capital having the highest number of admitted students.
Zari Solomon Commenting on the award of contract in the College, The Acting Provost directed Journalists to the Ministry of Health to verify certain issues bordering the award of contract.
He however warned admission syndicates in the State and beyond to turn a new leaf or distance themselves from the institution or if arrested will suffer the temerity of their actions and inactions.
He also warned school fee dupers to rethink or risk arrest by security operatives.
“Dupers within the system and between students and their parents, advising parents and guardians alike to always verify issues that have to do with payment of tuition fees, He said indigent students are to pay N35,000 per semester.
“For those for prelim, which is a one-year program students will spend only two semesters and are expected to pay school fees for two semesters which is N70,000 naira only.
