Governing Council Federal University Lafia Dismiss Employees Over Illegal Employment

The governing council of the Federal University Lafia has approved the termination of the appointment of Taiwo Kehinde, Clement Usoro Jackson ,Usman Anas,Ahmed Muhammed Abdul’azzez.

The statement was signed by the Information and Public Relations Unit of the University, Abubakar Ibrahim, It further revealed that one of the affected staff,Apeshi Salihu Abubakar was demoted from the rank of Administrative Assistant to executive Officer (Administration).

Apeshi was demoted for his role in facilitating illegal employment while the dismissed workers were found guilty of extortion of money to offer employment in the University.

The council gave the approval when its members recently met to consider the report of staff disciplinary committee which was established to look into cases of illegal employment of staff in the University.

The statement further unfolded that the council carefully and objectively deliberated on the issues brought it by the disciplinary committee. The head of the Information Unit has said.

It would be recalled that the media reported stories of alleged maladministration and corruption in the process of employment in Federal University, Lafia under the headship of the former Vice Chancellor_Professor Ekanam Braide.

The media according to the press release claimed that in some cases money was collected from some job seekers in order to offer them employment, Further Information revealed that thirty four  (34) employees had been lay-off from the service of the University.

Abubakar Ibrahim said the thirty four persons lay-off were employed during the reign of the pioneer Vice Chancellor who over employed staff of the institution barely twos to the expiration of her tenure.

Further investigation revealed that over seventy employees that benefited from the illegal appointment has since been laid-off ,also others are on the  run, the illegal employment seriously constitute nuisance to the federal University.

It would be recalled that on 11 November 2016 Universalreporters has reported the rising spate of illegal employment racketeerers and extortion of chunk amount of money by highly placed and connected personality using their brothers and cronies to dupe people of their hard-earned money.
