The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nasarawa state has called on Governor Umaru Al-Makura to respect the judgment of the High court in Keffi that dissolve the Interim Committee Chairmen of Local Government Areas.

The state chairman of the party made the call during a chat with newsmen in Lafia, urging the governor to comply with the judgment of the court by dissolving the IMC without further delay.

Musa Saidu said that the constitution of Nigeria does not recognize the appointment of persons to run the affairs at the local government levels outside elected officials.

“The law court saddled with the responsibility of interpreting the constitution has done its job and the decision should be respected by all citizens, especially leaders,” He said.

“Whatever the nomenclature is, call it Transitional Management Committee (TMC) or IMC, it does not have a place in the constitution of the country,” Saidu said.

Saidu advised the state government to put in machineries in place towards the conduct of local government election that would produce democratically council chairmen that would administer the local councils in the state.

He further said that the party has zoned the 2019 governorship ticket to Nasarawa-North following the call by various interest groups and stakeholders in and around the zone.

“Following the demands of the people of Nasarawa North Senatorial district to produce the next governor of the state come 2019, leadership of our party has zoned it to the zone”.

“Since the inception of the forth republic in 1999 till date all the other two zones in the state had produced the governor except Nasarawa North.

“Nasarawa West had produced the governor from 1999 to 2007 and Nasarawa South had also produced the governor from 2007 to date,so it is fair to North to produce next time,” Saidu added.

He explained that APGA is the party that believes in justice, equity and fairness just as exemplify by their slogan ‘be your brothers’ and sister’s keeper.’

“See, I am the chairman of APGA in the state, we have zoned the position there because they have not tested it before, what have the people done wrong, are they not part of this state” he asked.

He therefore called on the party followers in the state to remain calm and be law abiding even in the face of the current economic.

It would be recalled that a High court sitting in Lafia LGA of the state had recently dissolved the IMC Chairmen and ordered the state government to conduct election.
