Gov Abubakar Doles Out N55 Million For Qur’anic Competition

Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi state have doles out a whopping sum of N55 million for the hosting of qur’anic competition   holding in Katagum, headquarters of Zaki local government area.

The Governor, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry for Religious Affairs and Community Relations Alhaji Kani Faggo, assured that religious matters will be given the necessary attention in order to build God fearing society in the state.

Governor Abubakar therefore called on community leaders, religious leaders as well as teachers, to join hands with his administration in promoting moral regeneration among the people especially youths so as to prevent violence, drug abuse and other anti social behaviors in the society.

In his remarks, the chairman of the State Qur’anic Recitation Committee Dr. Zubairu Abubakar Madaki, pledged to avoid favoritism in the committee’s assignment by ensuring justice and fairness to all the participants in order to produce best candidates that will represent the state at the National level.

Madaki thanked the state government for its moral and financial support to the committee, assuring that the funds approved for the committee’s assignment will be judiciously utilized.

He disclosed that 240 male and female contestants  will be taking part in the weeklong activity where winners, will go home with cars, tricycles, sewing and grinding  machines among others.

The chairman said the overall winners in both male and female categories, will represent the state at the 2016 National competition which will hold in Lafia, Nassarawa state.

The Emir of Dass Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman who is also the chairman of the occasion, prayed for the success of the competition and wished the contestants good outing.

The competition is an annual event aimed at inculcating the habit of reading and memorization of the glorious Qur’an among muslim youths in the society.

Even though, the amount appears to have create outrage in the state compared to past administration when feelers said, it may give bad name to the organizers because such amount was not release in same purpose during Yuguda and Mua’azu.
