Gbong Gwom Jos Charges Berom To Return To Culture Of Farming To End Hunger In The Family

His Royal Highness, the Gbong Gwom Jos ,Da Jacob Gyang Buba has charged the Berom speaking natives to shun social vices and return back to  farming as panacea of building strong love and peaceful coexistence amongst them.

His Royal Highness gave this advised during Nzem Vwei Riyom 2017 to mark the return of peace in Riyom Local Government Area yesterday.

He said, the Nzem Vwei been hosted to signify and mark the return of farming period in the land and encourage each and every one of us to avoid fighting, cheating one another or brewing unnecessary conflict.

The Traditional father tasked the Berom speaking native to employ amicable mean of settling conflict within them  by calling on the youth to avoid taking dangerous substances such as ,goskolo ,India hemps ,that can destroy them.

He challenged the youth to be productive to themselves and their family by engaging on meaningful activities to support each other including those who are into mining to use the money in training themselves.

We should work toward preserving our own cultural heritage which most of us today are guilty of abandoning our culture to embrace foreign culture of worshipping different God.

The Management Committee Chairman of Riyom Local Government Council, Hon Mafeng Gwallson said, this year Nzem Vwei Riyom 2017 had brought many sons and daughters of the Berom from home and abroad to celebrate the rich culture of our forefathers.

He said the annual cultural festival which is celebrated amongst the peace loving people of Berom in plateau and Kaduna states for the past 16 years were absence owning to the lingering crisis that had bedevil our land ,but today you can witness the display of love ,understanding .

Gwallson reiterated that Riyom was the headquarters of the Berom speaking natives world over when the colonial master came the first settled in Riyom with so many rich historical records before migrating to Kabong,Barking Ladi ,Jos South Jos North and parts of Kaduna state respectively.

He urged the Berom in plateau and Kaduna states to always remember that they are first among equals therefore, should showcase an exemplary live worthy of emulation by our kids and kings as well as sons and daughters of the state.

He reminded the Berom that, “we should all rally round to support our traditional institution ,the Gbong Gwom Be Dagwom Rwey ,Be Dagwom mameyey to protect our people culture and tradition even if it means with our lives because no one else can do it for us.

Other sons include, Hon Daniel Manjang Special Adviser to Governor Simon Lalong on media and publicity, His Royal Highness Da Sam Jok ,Dagwom Rwey Riyom .

The guest speaker, Prof Dung Pam Sha of the University of Jos has called on the Berom people to give attention to education of their children so as to enjoy continuity.

He advised parents to realize that if they want to keep themselves relevant and ensure their families are useful they need to partner with association, we need to protect the girl child from early marriage and boys from drugs addiction including constant harassment from evil of the society.

He stressed that we have to continue with enlightenment campaign of how tackle youth restiveness by inculcating good moral value which cultural value will be jealously guided.

Sha cautioned the Berom on the need for men to give priority attention to motherhood and discourage our society from going into extinction and non-production.

He advised the leadership of various communities to embrace empowerment program such farming, trading and built relationship among family which is consider as responsibility guide us.
