FUTO Holds 31st Convocation Ceremony 2019, As 42 Students Graduates With 1st Class

On Saturday, April 6th, 2019, the management, staff, and students of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO, successfully held and celebrated the university’s 31st Convocation Ceremony amidst jubilation galore.

 

The Vice-Chancellor of FUTO, Prof.Chukwuemeka Francis Eze, and the FUTO Pro-Chancellor, Prof.John Omni-Offem, who is also the Chairman,11th Governing Council of the university,in their respective words, expressed satisfaction with the academic height of breakthrough ever recorded by the leadership of the institution and the students.

 

The Duo University Dons, however, commended all the graduates ( fresh graduate) of the university for making them proud, even as they charged them to become employers of labor,rather than job seekers.

 

Also, the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, who was ably represented by the Minister of  State Education, Prof. Anthony Anwukah, thanked the school for setting the pace in producing quality graduates amongst the other universities in the country.

 

Prof.Anwukah, who spoke as the President of the country, therefore encouraged the undergraduates the school and the young graduates to remember that huge tasks awaits for them as citizens of Nigeria, which according to the Minister, that they should think positively to economic value to the nation as leaders of tomorrow.

 

The President, while speaking condemned the recent news trending about the alleged sex scandal that involved students of the school, but called on the security management of the institution to sit up and ensure that such ugly incident did not occur anymore.

 

“You are supposed to be celebrating hard working and excellent. You are about to begin a new life full of many challenges. Education history in Nigeria will not be completed without mentioning FUTO. Your school is now rated higher amongst successful universities in the nation”, the Minister submitted.

 

Meanwhile, one Miss Jane Onyinyechi Ogwo, of the Department of Maritime have anchored the overall CGPA of 4.90 in a grand style, where about 42 students have recorded academic successes as they go into the global market with 1st Class honors.

 

A graduate of Agric-Economics who also bagged 1st Class, Master Fidelis Emeka Solomon, said ” it is my desire to come out with the best results. Yes, it is a dream come through. It was not easy but with hard work, passion and dedication that I was able to achieve the success”.

 

Emeka, further advised under-graduates in the Universities, Colleges, and Polytechnics in Imo State and in Nigeria to study very harder, even as he denied the sex romp news that allegedly dragged about three persons to their untimely grave.

 

“The victims of the sex tragedy must be students from nearby schools not from FUTO. They are not from FUTO, he boasted that FUTO students are responsible, trained and cultured”, the First Class graduates insisted.

 

Adding his voice, a FUTO lecturer from the Department of Agric. Extension, Dr.Ifeanyi Emma Ogueri, expressed satisfaction with the best academic records from his school.

 

Dr.Ogueri, while responding to questions on why the female students are more in the numbers of those with first class, revealed that most male students usually trained themselves, as such struggling to make a living while studying at the same time, whereas the female folks are most dependable as students of the same institution.
