FRSC, NEMA Warns On Ember Months Safety Campaign By Yakubu Busari,Jos

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA),North Central Zone has called on Nigerians to be road safety conscious, must particularly in this ember month of the year.

These were the messages of the  Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi and North Central Coordinator of NEMA Malam Muhammad Abdussalam, at the joint flag off campaign  tagged: “Ember month operation on road traffic crashes in North Central Zone,” held yesterday at the FRSC Hawan-Kibo unit command.

FRSC Corps Marshall  Oyeyemi, who was represented by Corps Commander Angus Ibezim,said the collaboration and synergy between NEMA, is working and yielding results.

Oyeyemi said with the continues collaboration with other stakeholders, “we hope that the nation will witness zero fatality and zero death on our ways.”

“FRSC can not do it alone, and were calling on other well meaning individuals and organizations to join the campaign and bring safety to the people,” he added.

“We are having reduction in fatality rate in the country because people are responding to the campaign,” he said.

On his part NEMA’s North Central Coordinator Malam Muhammad Abdussalam, said as part of the agency’s mandate to manage man made and natural disaster “we are here to continue with the collaboration.”

Represented by Malam Suleiman Muhammad, Abdussalam said the Hawan -Kibo unit command of the FRSC is one of the black spot in Nigeria, and they want to ensure a free accident ember period.

Fire fighting equipments, other safety materials as well as medical items  were also giving out by NEMA to the road safety Commission.

Two of NEMA’s ambulances were also stationed at the FRSC.
