The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Plateau State Sector Commander, Mr Alphonsus Godwin has disclosed how the command plans to deploy staff across the major roads to help curtail roads accident by creating awareness and sensitization campaigns to reduce speeding, overloading, and unsafe tyres and arrive alive.
He made this disclosure ahead of the 2022 ember months held at Jos South Local Government Council, Maraban Jama’a on Thursday in Jos.
However, the theme is”, avoid speeding, overloading, and unsafe tyres to arrive alive “, by admonishing motorists to always fix their vehicles’ speed meters to help control overspeeding.
According to him, we are so delighted for Bukuru branch of the FRSC for organizing the awareness campaign, which is very critical to the state, especially during the ember months as he congratulated the sector commander in building cordial relationships between motorists and other agencies in the state to reduce accident.
He lamented that two years of the major causes of roads accident over speeding and overloading have contributed to the challenges of high fatality in the country, we see vehicles that are supposed to carry 12 passengers, but when they are overloaded, it resulted in the instant killing of almost 10 passengers.
Godwin emphasized that the organized campaign towards discouraging motorists from using expired tires , is unsafe because they constitute some accidents during the raining falls so to reduce accidents the exercise would help.
He noted that the campaign might reduce roads accident by15% which require the support of all a sundry, we appeal to transporters, transport Union, student unions, and those who use the road, we need your full support in this task .
The Sector Commander RS4.14 Bukuru unit command, C.N Ka’agerger said they want to consolidate the traffic in ember months, which is characterised by heightened clashes of the accident many times and is attributed to witchcraft, but with the coming FRSC, the problem of mechanical, and environmental and human factors has been reduced.
Kaagerger stated that most motorists and travelers predicted their accidents as human instead of avoiding over speeding and overloading so passengers should always use a seat belt.
The FRSC conducted an exercise known as managing accidents however, this year is well articulated to emphasise that all human beings depend on each other because accident brings about injuries and deformity.
