At least no fewer than four persons were killed on Sunday evening along Kassa village and one other location within Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state a local source has confirmed.
The source told our correspondent on phone that three out of the five persons were travellers coming from Saminaka Local Government Area of Kaduna to meet with one of their relative at Barkin Ladi.
Confirming the incident, the Secretary of Miyyety Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Barkin Ladi chapter Muhammad Adam Muhammad, said the travelers have been communicating with the man they are to meet with, until the time that they almost reached Barkin Ladi, when their calls were no longer heard.”
He said they were later found slaughtered along the road side, “with their private parts cut off, along Robb road, by the road side, with no sign indicating that they were killed there.”
“Their names were Magaji Sirajo, Tukur Sirajo and Hassan Ibrahim,” he said, “All of them are from Saminaka LGA Kaduna state coming to Nuhu Yakubu of Barkin Ladi.”
He added that it could be ritualists that had killed them, because their parts were removed. According to him one other person was shot dead on the road at Kassa village also in Barkin Ladi.
The MACBAN Secretary alleged that Berom youths had opened gun fire on motorists which resulted in the killing of his brother, on Sunday afternoon while on his way to cattle market. He gave the name of the deceased as Ali Suleiman. Adam said they have made a formal report to the STF Sector 7 commander.
A community leader in Barkin Ladi, Alhaji Danjuma Abdullahi has lamented over the stoppage of Security patrol, most especially that of the Special Task Force (STF).
“For some days now People blocked the road at Kassa, at times they did not even block but they opened fire on motorists,” he said.
He urged the STF Commander to ensure that own troops are deployed on the road and also carry out constant patrols. Effort to get comment from the STF Media/Information officer Captain Ikedichi Iweha, ended in futile as calls made to his phone were not answered.
