The Agatu Local Government Council in Benue State has awarded a contract for the construction of three strategic roads across the local government area.
The contract, awarded to M/s RCSY Construction Nig. Limited, covers:
1. Oshigbudu – Atakpa Road
2. Market Square – Onchali Road
3. Adokpa – Och’ Adogoji Road
The Executive Chairman of Agatu LGA and Deputy ALGON Chairman, Benue State, Melvin James Ejeh, who disclosed this on Friday, said construction work will commence next week.
According to Ejeh, the roads will be quality asphalt roads with concrete drainage systems, designed to ensure safer, more durable and improved connectivity for communities in the area.
He noted that the project will mark the completion of the Oshigbudu/Atakpa section of the Oshigbudu/Ogbaulu-Odugbeho Road.
The Chairman described the development as a significant milestone, stating that it is the first time since its creation that the Agatu Local Government Council is constructing quality asphalt roads within the LGA.
He expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for granting the council the independence and support to operate effectively at the grassroots level.
Ejeh also commended the Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Hon. Ojotu Ojema, for his intervention in constructing a significant portion of the Oshigbudu-Atakpa Road with quality materials, a move he said helped reduce the overall cost of the project.
