Just as it said the destruction cause by the terrorist is a threat to the corporate existence of Nigeria as a nation
The former president made the statement in Bauchi Sunday while addressing North-East Christian followers tagged Nigeria prays saying the prayer become imperative to seek God’s intervention ahead of March election
Gowon lament that the insurgents have no positive blueprints to nation building, but determine to destroy its citizens using Islamic religion which he added is a religion of peace
According to Gowon Christian should use their permanent voter’s cards to elect credible leaders irrespective any difference ahead of March explaining that only free and fair election can brings development
He had charge politicians and Christian followers in the country to shun violence and embrace togetherness during the election saying both Muslims and Christian should be imbibe the spirit of tolerance
“The prayer rally is meant to seek to God’s intervention with the present political and economic challenges and to give good conviction to our leaders in addressing the monumental problems faced in the country” said former president
The former president had also caution against the destruction of society thereby giving it bag image in international perspective
He urge the Christian communities in the country to avail themselves in prayer especially those barbarically affected by insurgents in the north-east to remain calm.
