Former LP Guber Candidate, Amb.Margif Lampoons Govt, Ask Them To End Incessant Attacks On Vulnerable Communities In Plateau

Former Plateau State Labour Party LP Governorship Candidate Chief Yohana Yilpwan Margif has appealed to the State and federal governments to end the ceaseless attacks on armless and defenseless communities in Plateau State.

Margif who stated this in a statement condemning recent attacks in Ruwi, Manguna, Daffo, Hurti, Tadai, and Josho noted that the marauding Fulanis that perpetrated the condemnable act should be declared terrorists and be dealt with decisively according to the laws of the land.

He accused the government of paying lip service to the lives and security of citizens who have been constantly under attack over the years without any concrete measures taken to prosecute the perpetrators of the dastardly act who often go Scot free even after their arrest.

” It’s baffling that for a long time now, perpetrators of these attacks on our people are usually released whenever they were arrested and taken to Abuja, something that has emboldened them to become more daring and sophisticated as they continue with their nefarious acts”

” For how long are we going to fold our arms and watch these enemies of the state kill our people?. Our government need to wake up from its slumber by taken proactive measures that will bring an end to these carnage”

” All these acts of terrorism on our people over the years is a deliberate plot to annex our ancestral land given to us by God. The State Government should therefore implement the report of the Committee set up to return IDP’s to their ancestral land. Our people can not continue to be refugees in their own land”

He urged the federal government to withdraw soldiers from Plateau State and send them to the country’s borders to contain bandits and allow Mobile Police to handle internal security which they are professionally trained to for.

According to Chief Margif, instances where the Army only arrived when the attackers have completed their mission to evacuate death bodies and the injured, clearly indicates that they are not ready for that task which is assuming a more dangerous dimensions on a daily basis.

The former Labour Party Governorship Candidate challenged the people to rise up and protect their ancestral lands by constituting neighborhood watch and Vigilante groups to complement Government efforts noting that it is becoming increasingly difficult for government to do it alone.

While waiting for government to fastrack the process of establishing State Police to complement efforts of the conventional Police, Margif advised the State government to strengthen the capacity of non conventional security outfits to protect the citizens from the incessant attacks.
