A group of Plateau Youth has rejected the substitution of Amb. Yohana M.D. Margif with Dr Patrick Dakum as the candidate of Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial by calling on the National Secretariat to avoid what might cause failure in 2023 general elections.
Speaking during a state-wide protest organized by Christian and Muslim youth on Saturday, youths vehemently advised the State and National LP to maintain the statuquo and allow Amb. Margif to fly the party ticket.
Hon Danjuma Bulus and Abdullahi Mohammad disclosed that they’re surprised with the new development in Plateau state where some desperate politicians are embarking on cheap blackmail and propaganda to score their selfish agenda.
According to the statement, this development won’t bring progress to the party if the idea is allowed to continue, as a party we only recognized Amb. Yohanna as the sole candidate for LP.
The statement condemned the politics of character assassination by the supporters of Dr. Patrick Dakum and asked them to stop the politics of character destruction or else that would affect the presidential flag bearer.
They stressed that the party in Plateau state is drumming support for the candidature of Amb Margif in the forthcoming general elections and resist any attempt to influence the electorate to vote for the opposition party due to the popularity of our presidential candidate.
Recall that the Labour Party conducted another primary (after that of June 5, 2022, that saw the emergence of Ambassador Yohana Margif) that produced Dakum as a replacement for Margif. A development that attracted condemnation from observers.
