Following the present economic crunch, the Nasarawa state Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has forfeited fifty percent of his salary for the development of the state; the Governor stated this after the signing into law the 2016 budget.

The Governor said the salary cut which was extended to the Deputy Governor and political appointees are part of the sacrifice made to reduce the cost of governance in the state.

“I sacrifices 50% of my salary, 30% from my Deputy and 20% from the salary of political appointees to augment the meager resource of the state and I urge you to do the same”.

He further attested that he slashed fifty percent of his DTA since when he assumed the mantle of leadership barely five years in office.

Al-Makura said 150 Youths will be engage as facilities supervisors and placed under monthly stipends.

The Governor said the current reign has constructed over 200Km asphalt road, saying attention would be given to the road network, bridges and culverts.

Speaking on land administration, the Governor acknowledged that 13,000 hectares of land are utilized within Gurku-Kabusu-Mpape axis.

Further findings to know the actual monthly salary of the state Governor, his Deputy and political appointees failed as staff of the bureau for salary when contacted decline comment.
