Peace Audu, the Chairperson of Fufore Local Government Council in Adamawa state, has advised residents living in flood-prone areas to relocate to higher grounds as safety measures. While commiserating with the affected families of the flood disaster, she cautioned residents against building on waterways and dumping refuse in drainage practices that aggravate the impact of flooding.
She gave the words of caution during the distribution of relief materials to communities affected by the recent flooding across the area.
The initiative, aimed at cushioning the effects of the flood disaster, follows the destruction of farmlands and properties valued at millions of Naira.
While launching the distribution exercise, Audu expressed appreciation to the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for his swift and unwavering support to the people of Fufore.
She revealed that the relief items were made available by the State Government through the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA).
“We are grateful to our governor and father, Ahmadu Fintiri, for his continued support to the people of Fufore. Thank you for making it a priority to assist flood victims in Fufore and other LGAs in the state,” she said.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the state government, describing the intervention as timely and a clear demonstration of the administration’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens.
Communities in Fufore affected by the flood include Ribadu, Gurin, Mayoine, Beti, and Wurobokki.
