The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency has flagged off the Federal Government Programme on assistance to farmers affected by flood in the Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Representative Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmad who was represented by the Territorial coordinator in Jigawa state, Malam Sanusi Ado said about 39,000 farmers would be benefited from the assistance approved by President Muhammad Buhari.
He said the farming inputs will be distributed include fertilizers, improved seeds, Sprayers, Agro-Chemicals, and other equipment.
Alhaji Mustapha Habib urged stakeholders to fully partake and ensure the successful conduct of the distribution exercise.
In his speech, at the occasion, the State Emergency Management Agency Jigawa state, Alhaji Sani Yusuf Babura, commended both Federal and Jigawa state Governments for the gesture and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items they received.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the distribution committee and Chairman of Kiyawa Local Government, Alhaji Nasiru Ahmed expressed appreciation for choosing Kiyawa Local Government to launch the programme.
Speaking after receiving the consignment one of the beneficiaries, Malam Dayyanu Dando Kiyawa thanked President Muhammad Buhari and Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for coming to their assistance at the time of need.
