Air commodore Ishaku Komo (rtd) has urged Nigerians to engage themselves in subsistence farming in order to be self-reliant and to avoid the crunch of poverty in our communities.
Commodore Komo said this during the Festival called Wuktari held in Tafawa Balewa Local government area of Bauchi state.
He further appealed to the good people of both Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro to use the advantage of the first rainfall for farming in order to eliminate poverty in Nigeria.
The Naval Chief emphasized the need for people to stop going from one politician’s house to the order begging for food and money which is a bad attitude, instead of looking for handwork in order to keep themselves busy.
In his part, Dr. Sanda Nehemiah Yakubu of the University of Jos, who is also the President of the Zaar Development Association speaking during the declaration of the farming system for the year 2022 said that people should not be reluctant when the first rainfall for the year comes and prayed for a bumper harvest.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Rev. Markus M. Musa urged the people to keep on praying for our dear country Nigeria against issues of kidnapping, banditry, Boko Haram, and other terrorist groups in the country so that God would intervene and bring the dastardly acts to an end for the peace of the country.
Rev. Markus also prayed to God to choose leaders for us who have the fear of God in them, especially during the general elections in 2023.
