The immediate past governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura was amongst the personalities to be confer with honourary doctorate degree by the Federal University of Lafia.
The two time governor and current Senator representing Nasarawa South senatorial district , Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura’s contributions to the development of the Federal institution are numerous to mention.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Liman lauded the contributions of Al-Makura when he held sway of the executive governor of the state.
“Senator Al-Makura had raised the bar of delivering democratic dividends to the people of Nasarawa state and the university Community”.
He appreciate the contribututions ranging from the fencing, building access road network and the donation of building to commence University Teaching Hospital.
Senator Al-Makura, it be recalled donated the state secretariat at Mararaban Akunza to kick start their programmes wayback 2012.
Other imminent personalities to bag honourary doctorate degree are Sheik Dahiru Bauchi,an islamic scholar, Ambassador Garzali, Isyaka Rabiu as well late Emir of Lafia, Dr.Isa Mustapha Agwai !.
The Vice Chancellor stated that the institution which started with three programmes now can boost of seventeen programmes.
He opined that the University during her 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th convocation would commission Muhammadu Buhari Institute of Research Studies,5 lecture theatres and 50 staff office.
He attributed the success of the University under his steerling leadership to the prudent and judicial utilization of funds as well the support of all in the University.
