Federal Government Charged To Improve Salary Of Teachers In Nigeria

Federal Government has been called upon to augment private institutions of learning in the payment of teachers’ salaries and other facilities necessary for enhanced learning environment.

This call was made on Saturday during the joint speech and price given ceremony of Bob Apple by Memorial Academy (BAMA) Manchok in Kaura local government of Kaduna state.

The speakers also called on the kaduna state government to extends its school feeding programme to the BAMA and other private Schools in the state to enable  pupils of the less privileged benefit from the government gesture.

BOP Appleby Memorial Academy (BAMA) which was established in 2011 by the Gantys Aid For Widows, Orphans And Needy (GAWAN) foundation has since been impacting knowledge into both the  children of the orphans and those of whose parents are alive free of charge.

The Management of the foundation however appeal to government to come into their aid as it explained that it is not easy to run an institution free of charge while there is no intervention from any government or donor agencies, hence demanded for government attention.

Speaking on behalf of the management, Rev. Professor Sunday Bobai Agang reveals that at the advent of the project, it commenced with a humble beginning where the pupils population grew from five to 45 in 2011 with three teachers.

According to him, “today however there are mogern classrooms. The population has grown from forty-five pupils to 125 pupils in 2015, (en teachers, two NYSC corps members and two caregivers”.

“The vision and mission of GAWON Foundation (GF) is making fortune out of misfortune, replacing tears of sorrow with the fears of joy”.

He said the foundation has actively engaged in economic diversification through agricultural and acquacultural farming.

“The GF has in 2016 alone planted 0.9 hectares of ginger, 3.3 hectares of unpland rice, 2 hectares of lowland rice, 3.5 hectares of Soya beans, 0,5 hectares of finger millet.  The GF Cooperative staff has cultivated 0.2 hectares of soya beans as well as 2 hectares of upland rice among others”.

Also speaking at the event, former provost collage of education, Gida Waya in Kafanchan, Kaduna  state expressed dismay over the decadence and social vices eating deep into fabric of the nation   today.

He stressed the need for teachers to be properly groomed in a manner that, pupils would also be inculcated with good values the society is losing out of it.

He commended the steps taken GF for embarking on a very crucial journey some well to do individuals have been shying away from, stressing the need for the government to support individuals that has such initiatives with needed facilities that best needed for such organizations to excel.

He frowned at a situation where many have now view the schools, churches and ministries as busnies to make money rather than pursuing misions that will change the society positively.

Goodwill messages also came from the chairman of the occasion and the District head of Matwak and Tafidan Moro’a, Malam Aboi Kwasau and the education secretary of Kaura local government, Emmanuel y. Zango urged the management to do the best and leave the rest to government and God.

The parents were also been enjoined to cooperate with the management so that together the future of their children, as the leaders of tomorrow would be harnessed and guaranteed.
